Aboriginal Fire Fighter Competition, 2016

Aboriginal Fire Fighter Competition, 2016

Nunavut's Aboriginal Fire Fighter Competition happened in Iqaluit August 1-7, 2016. All week participants practiced drills in an attempt to narrow the group down to six individuals for the national team.

The Aboriginal Fire Fighter Competition brought together 23 Fire Fighters from across Nunavut. During the week of competition they practiced many drills and developed their skills. In the end, six participants were chosen to represent Nunavut at the national competition in Six Flags, Ontario. Congratulations to Atsaina Eeyeevadlok, Andrew Iqalukjuak Jr., Steven Iqalukjuak, Lutie Macpa, Jordan Mansbridge, and Glen Sutherland! All participants did exceptionally well and hopefully, they will take their newly learned skills back to their home communities to share!
