This course provides an overview of the theory and practice of community planning and land administration in Nunavut. This online course is open to those who are interested in gaining an introductory understanding of community planning and land administration, with an emphasis on the role of the municipal Planning and Lands Administrator (PLA). Topics include the guiding territorial planning policies, community plans, zoning by-laws, land administration by-laws, survey plans, and land file management systems. In this 56 hours (ten day) course participants begin to examine the training and development framework within human resources. Organizations must remain competitive and agile, and to do so requires high-performance, skilled employees. One means to accomplish this goal is via employee training and development. Training versus development, needs analysis, learning styles, training design and delivery, and the measurement and evaluation of training initiatives are all explored. Management development, employee onboarding and the challenges and best practices within training and development are also examined.

The Municipal Training Organization will conduct a Class 3 Air Brakes training in your community . The Hamlet of Kugaaruk and the MTO have opened up this training to municipal staff and the general public but space is limited!The Hamlet and the KIA will share seats in this course. Class 3 Air Brakes training provides the skills & knowledge for new drivers to test for their license. It gives licensed drivers enhanced safety & vehicle management skills.WHO CAN APPLY:KIA sponsored participants must be residents of Kugaaruk, registered under the Nunavut Agreement. The Lands Administration 1 course focuses on the acquisition and disposal of municipal land in Nunavut. Participants will learn about land administration bylaws, land acquisition and disposal procedures, land application processes, land leases, and lease administration. The online lectures and practical activities will help participants apply methods to acquire or dispose of land, process land applications, and prepare leases.
