CALL FOR ARTISTS

The Nunavut Municipal Training Organization (MTO) invites emerging and established artists of all ages from across Nunavut to take part in a unique visual arts initiative. This initiative will support and promote artists in Nunavut by providing them with the opportunity to create artwork that will be displayed at the MTO training centre and will be exhibited in Iqaluit. Artists will be compensated and expected to create the artwork in their own space and community.

Artists will have absolute freedom, but their work must be:

on canvas and around the theme of Inuuqatigiitsiarniq;

completed and shipped to Iqaluit by March 15, 2021;

Materials, artist commissions and all other expenses will be covered by the MTO. Interested artists must complete a form and return it to MTO by December 15, 2020.

This unique collection of canvas art will be exhibited at various locations in Iqaluit. Organizations with public spaces such as the library, museum, visitor centre and schools will be invited to host temporary exhibitions to provide the artists with maximum exposure. The collection will be on permanent display at the MTO training centre in Iqaluit and will be featured on the MTO website, Facebook page and newsletter. The original artwork will become part of the collection held and supported by the MTO. Artists will retain the intellectual property rights to their work.

This project is made possible through the Nunavut Public Art Initiative with the support of the Government of Nunavut.

Interested artists are invited to send an email to art.project.nmto@gmail.com to receive the form and guidelines to submit a proposition to this project.
