Last year the Nunavut Economic Developers Association elected to train municipal CEDOs through the University of Waterloo in line with the Economic Developers Association of Canada.

Though the MTO's CEDO courses may no longer be used by Nunavut's Community Economic Development Officers, the course materials provide a valuable resource and reference guide for that position.

Municipal employees may now take the GN’s HR training courses.  Likewise, GN employees may now take MTO courses (space permitting).  The MTO will not be able to pay for travel, hotel and per diems for GN courses, but this partnership between the MTO and the GN will nearly double the courses available to the municipality and municipal staff!!!!

The MTO will help load you or your staff on these GN courses so we will act as the point of contact between the municipalities and the GN department putting on the training.

The MTO Staff and Board of Directors would like to thank Ed Murphy for his dedication and service as President of the Nuanvut Municipal Training Organization.

Under Mr. Murphy's direction through 2011-2013, the MTO has been able to add 2,000 more training days, six new partnerships and a plethora of courses that have never been delivered in Nunavut, despite the need!

Mr. Murphy retired as President of the MTO and as Senior Administration Officer with the Hamlet of Arviat on May 30th, 2013.  He will be missed.

August 19, 2013 (IQALUIT, NUNAVUT) -- E-learning in Nunavut takes another step forward this fall, as the MTO and its partners at the Nunavut Arctic College launch the latest online program—a unique, made-in-Nunavut course designed to support the volunteers who staff, govern, and program community radio stations across Nunavut. It will cover the fundamentals of broadcast law, production, distribution, and governance for a community station – and without a single flipchart, binder or classroom!
